World Health Day 2021 – Building a Fairer, Healthier World for Everyone

image

Every year since 1950, the 7th April marks the celebration of World Health Day and each year the theme set by the World Health Organisation aims to raise awareness of a priority area of concern.

This year’s theme is “Building a fairer, healthier world for everyone”.

After the coronavirus outbreak was declared a pandemic in March 2020, the last 12 months have seen more and more people enter into poverty and food insecurity, alongside other increased racial, gender and social inequalities.

Face masks have become a necessary resource to prevent the spread of COVID-19. With charity and school budgets already stretched so thin, the added expense of providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to employees, pupils and service users could mean other areas miss out on vital funding.

Since last year, Full Support has partnered with charities and schools across the globe to donate over 20.8 million face masks to those who need them most.

Here are just some of the organisations we’ve been able to help:

Ida Bass Kidney Foundation

Set up by Sailey Flasdrud in honour of her mother, who unfortunately passed due to the lack of lifesaving kidney treatment available in The Gambia, the foundation has opened a brand new 14-bed dialysis centre to help improve the health and wellbeing of individuals suffering from kidney disease.

On behalf of everyone involved with the Ida Bass Kidney Foundation, are sincerely thankful for the donation of 1.6 million face masks from Full Support, which will be used to help keep some of the most vulnerable people in The Gambia safe during their time of need.” – The Ida Bass Kidney Foundation

Magic Breakfast Club

A registered charity that provides healthy breakfasts to vulnerable children in the UK, who are a part of the 2.3 million children suffering from food insecurity.

A huge heartfelt thank you to Full Support for your incredibly generous donation of 930,000 face masks, we are so very grateful for your invaluable support” – The Magic Breakfast Team

The Hygiene Bank

A grass roots, community initiative set up with the goal to end hygiene poverty in the UK by donating hygiene, personal care and household cleaning products to those who need them.

A huge thank you to Full Support for their generous donation of 800 boxes of face masks for our project! They have been delivered to Community & Schools Partners and they are all very grateful for the support” – The Hygiene Bank Medway

Meadowside School

Specialist school in the UK for pupils aged 11-19 with moderate, complex or profound learning difficulties, autism, communication, and/or sensory needs.

Many thanks for the supply of free face masks that you sent us. Our pupils and staff have felt reassured and safe these last few weeks helped by access to fresh, clean medical masks” – Meadowside School

We have been humbled by this feedback, but we know that there’s always more to be done in support of a healthier world for all. If your charity, education facility or good cause could benefit from free face masks, get in touch with Katie Mawston at kmawston@fullsupporthealthcare.com to request a donation.
